- Made from solid Mappa Burr, also known as black european Pippy Poplar, carefully selected by Sorrell & Smith for maximum quality and unique character. This is a SINGLE slab table which exudes elegance and completely uninterrupted grain patterns. This is a solid wood table throughout.
- Hand made in our UK workshop by master craftsman Sam Sorrell, with no robotic machinery used.
- Unique Steel Art base design – made from powder-coated steel finished in matt black, allowing for maximum leg-space and strength to hold up this luxuriously heavy and dense table. The table weighs around 30kg while the legs are 20kg each! This is one rock solid table! If you prefer alternative legs, just ask and we can swap them over.
- Finished to be beautifully smooth while preserving the natural grain and knots in the wood to bring out incredibly beautiful character.

Buffed and polished to an almost glass but woody-smooth finish, we use the best hardwax finish oils in the industry to make sure that this table is scratch resistant and built to last a lifetime. The quality of the wood along with our steel reinforcement bars built into the underside of the tabletop mean that the table is built using a method that allows it to naturally expand and shrink with temperature changes while the steel reinforcement bars ensure that the table will never warp or twist, always remaining beautifully flat and smooth, as you would expect from a piece of this quality.

On this table we have incorporated our best-selling Curva Steel Art legs which offer an elegant style.
We felt that with such a heavy and solid wood table, only the best steel legs would make the grade to compliment the table top. The 'overkill' nature of the legs compared to many competitor table legs mean that this table gives a really striking and imposing feel in any room. The legs are incredibly strong and solid to look at and touch, and ooze a feeling of pure quality.

Is It Real Solid Mappa Burr?
Yes! Made from the rarest Mappa Burr, also known as Pippy Poplar, our Rustic tops are full of natural character and knots, with contrasting colour tones and its trademark long flowing grain patterns running the full length and thickness of the table. This tabletop is made from one solid lab, with a total size of approx 70-75cm square.

Because of our confidence in our timber supplier, we provide you with a solid guarantee on its longevity and happily correct any issues that may arise from wood movement.
Is It Really Handmade?
Sorrell & Smith hand make all of our products in the UK. This means that no robotic machinery is used at any point in producing our products. Because each piece of wood has natural character, every single piece that leaves our workshop is a one-off piece which has unique character with the knots and swirls.
While many companies pump out “hand built” furniture, put together poorly, from cheap materials, or worse - imported from countries where they have not been properly seasoned or dried, Sorrell & Smith do it differently. We put obsessive care into every piece that we make, using only the very best materials. As a result, the end products are show-stopping centrepieces that can set off any luxury dining room.
You can have all of our tables made to any size. We offer some size recommendations for this model, allowing approximately 75cm x 75cm as an ideal size. If you require a completely custom size, please get in touch via Email for a quote or simply put the requirement in the note. For a single slab table, the maximum width we can go to is 75cm for Mappa Burr.
